DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS AND INFORMATION

MEET: Camp Lotus, Lotus (Coloma), California
Late arrivals run the risk of forfeiting their reservation with no refunds.
From the Bay Area/Sacramento: Take Highway 50 east from Sacramento. Take the first Shingle Springs exit at Ponderosa Road at Exit 37. When you come off the exit, there is a stop light. Turn left on Ponderosa Road and go over the highway. Take the first right at North Shingle Rd. and continue for approximately 4 miles. When you reach the split, stay left on Lotus Road. Continue on Lotus Road for approximately 6 miles and turn left on Bassi Road (There is a stop sign here). Go one more mile on Bassi and turn right into Camp Lotus. Approximate driving time from the Bay Area is three hours...from Sacramento, 45 minutes.
From South Shore Tahoe: Take Hwy 50 west. As you enter Placerville, turn right on Hwy 49/Canal Street. Proceed on Hwy 49 towards Coloma. Drive through the Coloma State Park and turn left on Lotus Road before the bridge. Continue for approximately 1 mile and turn right on Bassi Road. Go 1 more mile and turn right into Camp Lotus.
From North Shore Tahoe/Auburn/Hwy 80: Take Hwy 49 towards Coloma. Go past Cool. Cross the bridge over the Southfork American River on Hwy 49 and take an immediate right on Lotus Road. Go 1 mile and turn right on Bassi Road. Continue for 1 more mile and turn right into Camp Lotus.
WHAT TO WEAR / WHAT TO BRING: Please dress accordingly. During the springtime or high flows, we recommend a farmer john wetsuit w/a paddle jacket (waterpoof pullover) and tennis shoes. DO NOT WEAR ANY COTTON CLOTHING during the spring. Wetsuits are required before June 1 (based on weather conditions) or if flows are above 5,000 cfs. During the summer months, please wear a bathing suit or shorts, tennis shoes, cap or visor, sunglasses w/safety strap and SUNBLOCK!
Note about shoes: tennis shoes are mandatory. You will forfeit your trip if you arrive in flip flops, slides, slip-ons or heels. Shoes must be secure and sturdy. The river corridor is lined w/ rocks and slippery areas.
For overnight trips we suggest: tent, dry change of clothes for evening, towel, toiletries, flashlight, rain parka (for inclement weather), sleeping bag, ground cloth, pad and extra money for miscellaneous purchases.
Keys & Valuables: W.E.T. is not responsible for your valuables, car keys, etc. All lost items are donated to local organizations. If we need to mail back your items, you will be responsible for the postage. Please provide your own method of securing your car keys. We suggest a hide-a-key placed in an uncommon location on your car or attach a small secure loop around your key and attach it to your belt loop or through your tennis shoe. (No dangling strings allowed due to safety reasons)
TIPS & Gratuities: If you would like to tip your guide, tips of 15% - 20% are usually customary. Email us with your input regarding our guides.
NOTE: No person will be allowed on the boats if they are impaired in any way by alcohol, drugs or violent behavior. No alcohol or drugs on the rafts. No guns, radios, or pets, please. Camp Lotus does not allow dogs.
