California rafting with W.E.T. River Trips is a rite of passage out here in the West. As paddlers, we are lucky to have so many white water rivers throughout the state. Most of the whitewater rafting trips are close to major population centers such as San Francisco, San Jose, Lake Tahoe and Sacamento. All within a one hour to 3 hour distance to the meeting sites. We welcome beginner, novice, intermediate and advanced rafters and paddlers on several river rafting trips in Central and Northern California including our most popular American River whitewater. Hot summer months in California beckon the rafter to the cool waters of the river. South Fork American, Middle Fork American are two of the most popular rivers in the Western United States. More people join us on these two forks of the American River than any other river that we run. Beginners, novices to advanced paddlers will enjoy these river trips. During the summer, due to dam controlled rivers, we are able to have steady and managed flows until October.
Group rafting trips are very popular during the summer months. Packages include one day trips, two day trips, wilderness rafting, rafting w/lodging, team-building, camp & rafting trips, bachelor or bachelorette trips, youth groups, corporate groups and more. In Northern California, the mighty Klamath River resides. A large river system includes fishing, hiking and rafting trips. Youth groups enjoy this trip as well as the Scouts. Summer is the bulk of our rafting season on the Klamath, and we advise early reservations for the months of June, July and August.
Fall in Central and Northern California is usually very warm. Crowds are gone and the river is left with a beautiful serenity of gentler flows and glimpses of wildlife. This is the best time to raft a wilderness trip on the Middle Fork American River. Late August through October will bring an isolation far removed from the busy summer months.
Equally popular are the corporate groups that initiate team-building events on the South Fork American. Groups can have their own facilitators and we will work with your business or education organisation to recommend a tailored program.
Fall rafting is also a grand time for two day wilderness rafting trips. A precursor for the longer extended river trips throughout the world, these wilderness trips offer a glimpse of what it's like to be on the river for multiple days. This is a way to acclimate yourself to the longer runs on the Klamath River, the Rogue, Salmon and Colorado River through the Grand Canyon.
Winter rafting in California is available after a storm system blows through leaving precipitation flowing into the rivers and streams. Dam controlled rivers may also have water releases throughout the winter months providing a rafting trip for the paddling enthusiast!
Gear is very important as we provide wetsuits for our clients. Granted, the winter months are an uncommon time for most of our regular paddlers and clients. Those of you who need a whitewater fix will be rewarded by lush and verdant foliage, isolation from the crowds and possibly the best whitewater of the year! Again, not for everyone...
Most of the winter rafting trips are on the South Fork American, North Fork American, or Cal Salmon river. We also do acclimation trips for special guests on other rivers. You know who you are!
Premium river rafting in the springtime bring a challenge for the aggressive, experienced paddler. North Fork American and the Cal Salmon rivers start around mid-March and this year, 2010 we will be running through June!.
Spring white water rafting trips are also available on the South Fork American. At higher spring flows, the South Fork can be quite challenging for the athletic beginner or novice.
Springtime trips require gear, so we include this with each rafting package that we offer. See the picture on the left for an example of what to wear and what to bring rafting. We include a farmer john wetsuit, splash jacket, helmet, lunch and guide service. All you bring is an enthusiastic and positive attitude along with a hearty appetite!
